My introduction to ceramics began with my hands in the earth, excavating artifacts and studying fragments of pottery shaped hundreds of years ago. My degree in anthropology with a focus on Latin American archeology, where I studied aged vessels with their distinct colors, painted depictions, and clay bodies, I saw ceramics as tangible capsules that hold memory of thought processes, spirituality, and cultural narratives of the past.

What began as a study in archeology, eventually became a personal practice. Through wheel throwing and handbuilding, I developed a relationship with pottery that moved beyond observation and into making. And learned that, like past peoples, I too can express my heritage, thoughts, and muses using clay.
To create, to express, is deeply human and a constant across time and culture. This work is my piece of that continuum.
